Greta Muuri and Isla Myllys met in 2005 while studying textile design in Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences. Soon they found common interests: love for music and dancing. Also their visions and working methods matched together.

“We find it important and also very inspiring that objects and materials have a long story behind them. Like the materials in our products, the name Hemming & Willström also tells a story. Both of the names are from the designers families. We want to bring all the warmth and joy of our mothers and grandmothers to our work through the name. The name is like guidelines where we want to go and how.”

Something interesting:
In design Greta appreciates simple forms with a twist. “It’s fun to find something odd on everyday design.” Greta loves modern art, merinques, jazz music and stars on the sky.

Isla loves spring, Thursdays and big airports. In design Isla appreciates that there is something to think about. “Everything doesn’t have to be so obvious.”
